On Saturday March 4, 2017 the City of Sugar Land will host the 8th Annual Sugar Land Cultural Kite Festival at Sugar Land’s brand new Brazos River Park. This is a new location, so please check out the map at the bottom of this page. Some online maps may not show the new address, 18427 SW Freeway, Sugar Land, TX 77479.
In previous years, thousands of people have enjoyed this family-oriented festival, which focuses on kite flying but also includes a number of other activities.
For the 8th year, local business owner Rick Osgood will setup a kite booth with hundreds of kites for sale, plus an extensive display of wind feathers, banners, and wind socks. “Rick’s Darts & Games began as a kite shop in 1974, so we really enjoyed the opportunity to once again show off our kites & banners at this event.many . Although Rick’s Darts & Games has branched out into many other merchandise categories, we still stock the largest variety of kites in the Houston area. We really enjoy the opportunity to come out to the Sugar Land Cultural Kite Festival each year.”
The event will be held at Sugar Land’s Memorial Park, located on University Drive, along the bank of the Brazos River. Other facilities at the park include playgrounds, disc golf, gazebos, restrooms, hike & bike paths, and a dog park.
